A total of 1,500 Greek expatriates from the USA and Canada participated in the “Rebrain Greece” event of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in New York, with the aim of repatriating Greeks who left our country, mainly during the economic crisis.
During the event, the participants, some of whom came from Alaska, California and Florida, had the opportunity to conduct interviews with 35 leading business groups looking for executives, as well as to learn about the professional prospects in the Greek labor market and the incentives that have been established, so that they may consider returning to Greece.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameus, analyzed for those interested the professional opportunities that have developed in the modern Greek labor market, which has now become particularly attractive and competitive. At the same time, she emphasized that the economic and labor conditions that now prevail in our country are very different from those that led them to leave abroad, back in the years of crisis.
The Minister concluded her statement: “Our goal, as the Ministry of Labor, as the Greek Government, today is twofold. On the one hand, we want to prove to you that the Greece of today has nothing to do with the Greece that you left behind. And secondly, we want to show you the great professional opportunities that now exist in our country. The final decision to return is yours. But we, for our part, will do everything in our power – believe me, everything in our power – to reclaim you back home.”
35 groups
The event was attended by 35 business groups seeking specialized executives and operating in sectors such as the construction and technical sector, technology, artificial intelligence, research and development (R&D), IT, industry and production, finance, energy, insurance, legal professions, shipping, consulting, telecommunications, information and media, tourism and hospitality, pharmaceuticals, and the medical and healthcare sectors.
