Global Ship Lease’s fleet has surpassed 400,000 TEUs after the addition of three containerships, with a total carrying capacity of 24,000 TEUs.
Following these new additions, GSL’s fleet will consist of 71 ships, with a total capacity of 422,567 TEUs, while deliveries of the acquired ships are expected at the end of 2025.
The three containerships, each with a capacity of 8,600 TEUs, were built at a South Korean shipyard and are equipped with ECO upgrades, for a total price of 90 million dollars.
The ships have secured charters with a leading liner company, at prices below current market levels, with flexible durations extending until mid-2030.
If they are maintained until their expiration, they are expected to generate total revenues of approximately 88 million dollars.
Global Ship Lease Executive Chairman George Giouroukos described the agreement to acquire the three containerships as one of the company’s most strategic moves, underlining that the new ships combine high specifications, operational flexibility and strong commercial value.
