The Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Thomas Kazakos, met with China’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Yang Li, in London, marking a significant strengthening of international maritime cooperation.
The two sides discussed the role of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in supporting global shipping, the resilience of maritime transport and the well-being of seafarers.
The meeting took place shortly after the ICS’s active participation in Hong Kong Shipping Week, where it co-hosted the second Global Maritime Trade Summit. Mr. Li reiterated China’s support for the “Clean Energy Marine Hubs” initiative, which promotes the transition of shipping to clean fuels.
