Shipowner Polys Hajioannou has made an investment in the tanker market, through the private company Safety Management Overseas.

The deal, which is reportedly valued at 86 million dollars, concerns two new MR tankers, with a capacity of 50,000 dwt, which are being built by the Chinese Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry.

The two ships, with ship numbers N1239 and N1241, are expected to be delivered in the summer and autumn of 2027 respectively.

The transaction is not related to Safe Bulkers, Hajioannou’s listed company, which remains purely oriented towards bulk carriers, with a fleet of 45 ships, with a total capacity of 4.6 million dwt and an average age of 10.3 years.
