The role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Greek economy and the challenges they face dominated the speech of the president of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen, Ioannis Chatzitheodosiou, at the anniversary event for the 100th anniversary of the Chamber.
In his speech, he emphasized that small and medium-sized entrepreneurs have been the stable pillar of the Greek economy over time, adding that their contribution is not only economic, but also social, as they support families, local institutions and social cohesion.
He focused on the modern developments that are changing the production model. “The digital age, the green transition, artificial intelligence and the energy crisis are shaping an environment that requires institutions that listen, cooperate and provide solutions,” he said, emphasizing that small and medium-sized enterprises should not be on the sidelines of these transformations.
He also presented the chamber’s initiatives aimed at strengthening small and medium-sized entrepreneurship: training programs, mentoring, collaborations with universities and technological institutions, as well as actions that enhance the participation of the new generation. “The young professionals who choose to do business here are the most promising message. We are investing in them,” he said.
