As rental prices continue to rise and the housing problem remains, the government plans to announce a new package of interventions before the end of the year.
The main goal is the opening of closed properties owned by individuals and those owned by banks, which are estimated to exceed 20,000. At the same time, the submission of the bill on pending inheritances is scheduled before the end of the year, in order to enable the management and development of thousands of properties that currently remain unclaimed. Changes are also coming to the criteria for “My House 2” program, while the details of a new program that will combine energy upgrading and property renovation are eagerly awaited.
This is a program that will enable energy upgrading and property renovation. According to information, it will concern old properties at least 30 years old with expanded income criteria and a limit on the square footage of the property.
This specific program is expected to come into effect in 2026. Key features of the new program:
- the partial energy upgrade (20%-30%) and renovation (60%-80%) of the property.
- older properties, most likely those built in the early 1990s.
- expanded income criteria compared to those applicable to the “My House 2” program.

“My Home 2” program
Some changes are also coming to the “My Home 2” program in order to ensure the full absorption of the program, totaling 2 billion euros, with the aim of covering the housing needs of 20,000 citizens.
So far, 65.49% of the total budget has been covered with the inclusion of approximately 11,000 loans, worth over 1.2 billion euros.
That is why the government, according to competent sources, is considering mainly increasing the income limits in order to expand the number of beneficiaries.
