The introduction of the digital euro, the regulation of stablecoins, energy taxation and customs reform were at the heart of the Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings in Brussels, according to the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
Pierrakakis said in a statement from Brussels, “regarding customs duties, I would like to underline that Greece fully supports the Commission’s proposal to abolish the minimum amount of 150 euros, thus allowing the possibility of imposing duties on low-value parcels originating from third countries within the borders of the EU.”
“We believe that this policy is extremely important for the transparency of e-commerce, for the protection of European consumers and for the creation of a level playing field for European businesses,” he noted.
“Yes” to the immediate implementation of the measure
He also stressed that “Greece fully supports France’s position to implement this measure, requesting its immediate implementation at an even earlier time frame, from the beginning of 2026.”
“This is an extremely important issue for the customs authorities of the European Union and for the Union as a whole,” the Minister of National Economy and Finance added.
