Product diversification, the inclusion of new less saturated destinations, targeted marketing with prices adapted to the current conditions of economic hardship of citizens in most European countries and the continuation of investments – private and public – outline the roadmap for the future of Greek tourism.
According to representatives of the hotel industry and regions of the country who spoke to “N” within the framework of the World Travel Market London 2025, the positive developments in the tourism industry over the last years have created the need for new ideas that will bring Greece one step ahead of the competition – which is becoming increasingly intense in the region.
All stakeholders have agreed that the year is ending positively both in terms of arrivals and receipts, despite the difficulties that appeared in May. The heavyweights of the industry – Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos – were satisfied with the figures they recorded this year, while a significant development is the emergence of new destinations in the region.
For the coming year, the average market estimate speaks of a small increase based on pre-bookings, although at the same time the market is relatively cautious about the final result due to the economic problems facing major economies in Europe, a development that compresses the disposable income for travel.
All eyes are turned to new markets, such as the United States with its high-income citizens, or India with its rising middle class and population exceeding 1 billion.
