EU Commissioner Pierre Moscovici on Wednesday referred to “significant progress” in talks between European creditors and the Greek government over the issue of legislating a new legal framework to protect primary residences in the country from creditors.

The previous legal protection expired last month, while the Tsipras government’s failure to present a comprehensive successor law has been cited as a main reason blocking a one-billion-euro tranche that was set to flow into Greek state coffers, as envisioned in a 2017 debt relief package.

In a written response, Moscovici, viewed as among the leftist Tsipras government’s most favorably disposed European leaders, said he’s confident an agreement will be achieved before a scheduled April 5 Eurogroup meeting.
