The Volos Port Authority is moving ahead with its digital transformation strategy, aimed at developing a modern, technology-driven and competitive port, through the deployment of a Business Intelligence (BI) system.
The authority has signed a contract for the supply and installation of the BI platform, which is currently in the delivery phase. User training has already been completed, while final system adjustments are underway before the platform enters full operational use.
According to the authority, the new BI system is expected to enhance management decision-making by consolidating, processing and analysing data generated across the organisation’s various information systems, providing executives with timely, reliable and comprehensive information.
The platform will enable the creation of integrated reports, dashboards and data visualisations by combining information from different operational areas of the port authority. This will allow raw data to be transformed into actionable management insights, strengthening monitoring capabilities and supporting more informed operational and strategic decisions.
A key component of the digital infrastructure is the authority’s existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which integrates core business functions into a single database, automates workflows and ensures all departments have access to consistent, real-time information.
The BI system will build on these capabilities by drawing primarily on ERP-generated data, as well as other available sources, and converting them into user-friendly analytical reports. The authority said the system will improve its ability to monitor operational requirements, assess performance and forecast future needs more accurately.
The investment marks another step toward creating a more flexible, efficient and sustainable port, as the Volos Port Authority seeks to upgrade its services and strengthen the foundations for future growth through digital technologies.
