The Greek startup sector is showing strong momentum and clear signs of maturity in 2025, according to the annual report FWD Greece: Innovation Pulse 2025-2026.
According to the report, more than 732.2 million euros were invested in more than 90 startups, recording a 35% increase compared to 2024.
The ecosystem now includes 18 venture capital funds and 10 other major investors or investment platforms, with increased participation from angel investors and a total of over 143 unique investors. Early stages (pre-seed and seed) are receiving 117.5 million, covering 75% of the rounds, while Series A rounds and above raise 614.1 million, i.e. 25%, confirming the ecosystem’s transition to a maturation phase; a typical example is Spotawheel, which raises 300 million in 2025 in a mixed round (Series C and venture debt).
Top sectors
The sectors attracting the majority of funds are Artificial Intelligence, SaaS and HealthTech, following global trends, while Defense is now emerging as an autonomous and rapidly growing sector. At the same time, the Greek economy maintains a stable growth trajectory, with 2.1% GDP growth and historically low unemployment in May 2025 — levels not seen since 2008 — although inflationary pressures persist.
