METLEN has moved forward with its third transformation with eyes on the future.
The company’s immediate priorities include strengthening its presence in the critical metals sector, with an emphasis on gallium, but also in the defense sector, with the aim of creating a factory complex in Volos that, in addition to the subcontracts it undertakes for third parties, will be able to produce Greek-made defense equipment.
“We are opening another chapter in our journey, with the third transformation of our evolution. The Third Era is the most mature phase of our Company. From my new role as Executive Chairman, I intend to strategically contribute to the implementation of our commitments, as we have defined them in our medium-term business plan, for organic and non-organic growth, in collaboration with the new Group CEO, Christos Gavalas,” Evangelos Mytilineos stated.
For the first time in the history of the group, however, the role of the chairman is separated from that of the CEO, however, “I will continue to be present in the third transformation of the group,” he added.
He explained that “METLEN’s new structure is based on a strengthened executive leadership team, an optimized operating model of synergies and is further aligned with the best practices of corporate governance”. And he added that “my goal is to focus even more on ensuring the long-term success of METLEN and I am convinced that the new management structure and team will be a catalyst for our success”.
On Thursday, Metlen Energy & Metals announced the trading update for the nine-month period that ended 30 September 2025.
Turnover increased to 5,115 million euros, compared to 4,203 million euros in the same period last year, up +22%.
The Company remains on track to meet the full year EBITDA target.
In September 2025, METLEN was included in the FTSE 100 Index – a milestone reflecting its continued expansion, investor confidence, and strengthening international capital markets presence.
Recently Fitch reaffirmed its ‘BB+’ credit rating with a Stable Outlook for METLEN, highlighting the Company’s solid financial profile.
Strategic Investments and Initiatives
During the first nine months of 2025, the company made significant investments, while recording strong performance across all business activities. Geopolitical uncertainty, international trade tensions and increased volatility in global energy and metals markets did not hinder the company’s growth trajectory. The strategic investments, which are part of our medium-term strategy, reflect the commitments made at the Capital Markets Day in London in April 2025. The investments, which are either in progress or close to the final investment decision (FID) stage, are all focused on key areas of future growth and industrial development.
Evangelos Mytilineos, Chairman and CEO stated:
“In the first nine months of 2025, the Company delivered a step change in investment, while at the same time, produced a strong performance across all core Business Units.
Geopolitical uncertainty, trade tensions and heightened volatility in the global energy and metals markets have not obstructed the company’s growth trajectory.
The strategic investments that form part of our medium-term strategy reflect the commitments undertaken in our Capital Markets Day in London in April 2025. These investments, which are either underway or near FID status, are all focused on key areas of future growth and industrial transformation.
Most advanced are the Bauxite – Alumina – Gallium project, the Circular Metals Pilot plant which is now in the Commissioning phase, the 3rd plant of our M Technologies hub in Volos, to be commissioned in Q2 2026 and the aforementioned massive Stand-Alone Battery Storage unit of 330MW, expected to be operational in Q2 2026.
Collectively, these initiatives are designed to strengthen synergies across METLEN’s business sectors and support the achievement of our ambitious strategic and financial goals.”
