The Greek stock market remains one of the top performers globally in 2023, with a net gain of 20.75% so far this year.
Greek stocks edged higher in the last trading session of the week on the Athens Stock Exchange, following a similar trend which prevailed on other European markets. The general index of the market rose 0.03% to close at 1,122.75 points. Teh index ended the week with a net gain of 1.04%, rising 3.47% in May and 20.75% so far this year. The Large Cap index ended 0.11% down and the Mid Cap index rose 0.41%. Turnover was 79.10 million euros in volume of 24,439,629 shares.
Ellaktor (2.69%), Mytilineos (2.61%), Autohellas (1.67%) and Quest Holdings (1.54%) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Eurobank (-2.66%), Hellenic Petroleum (-2.17%) and OPAP (-1.92%) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Industrial Products (2.22%) and Financial Services (1.56%) moved up, while Travel (-1.72%) and Oil (-1.45%) moved down.
Kloukinas-Lappas and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 43 to 42 with another 27 issues unchanged. Ellaktor (2.69%) and Mytilineos (2.61%) were top gainers, while Mermeren (-7.51%) and Fieratex (-5.79%) were top losers.
