ND tables Parliament question over deal to sell ammunition, ordnance to Saudi Arabia

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) party on Monday demanded that the relevant Greek defense and foreign affairs ministers provide documentation to Parliament regarding a controversial contract to sell surplus military ammunition and ordnance to Saudi Arabia.

The development comes a week after the issue first arose, with the opposition charging, among others, that the deal had been facilitated via a shady middleman and outside the margins of a government-to-government agreement.

The center-right opposition party also cited what it called DM Panos Kammenos’ “insulting” references to Greece’s consul general in Riyadh and a lack of any endorsed documents in the “paper trail” leading from Saudi Arabia to Athens.
