First signs show increase in German tourists in Greece for 2016, at Turkey’s and Egypt’s expense

Greek tourism is apparently the beneficiary of fewer reservations by German tourists in the rival markets of Turkey and Egypt this season, according to a Bank of Greece (BoG) study this week and reports by German mass media.

A trend shows increased interest in summer holidays by German holidaymakers in Greece, despite an overall drop, by 6.2 percent, in tourist arrivals for the first trimester of the year: 1.621 million as opposed to 1.728 million in the corresponding period of 2015.

Nevertheless, arrivals by German nationals increased by 5.5 percent, to 118,000.
