Angelicoussis Group has equipped more than 140 vessels with Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network, enhancing connectivity across its fleet.
The group, controlled by Maria Angelicoussis, operates one of the world’s largest privately owned fleets, managing 160 vessels across the liquefied natural gas (LNG), tanker and dry bulk sectors, with a combined carrying capacity of more than 22 million tonnes and a global workforce of over 9,700 employees.
To meet growing crew connectivity requirements and support critical operational functions, including high-definition video transmission for incident reporting and predictive maintenance, the group has installed Starlink systems across its fleet.
According to the company, the deployment has transformed fleet connectivity from an operational constraint into a strategic enabler of crew welfare, operational excellence and fleet modernisation.
High-speed, low-latency broadband is now available even in remote ocean regions, while Starlink’s high-bandwidth service enables uninterrupted video calls, HD video transfers, real-time telemetry and enhanced cybersecurity across the fleet.
Speaking recently at the Capital Link conference, Maria Angelicoussis said: “Our philosophy as a company is to design and oversee the construction of the best-equipped vessel the market can offer at any given time. Our goal is to build the most technologically advanced ships, with the highest energy efficiency and the lowest possible emissions.”
Key benefits
According to the two companies, the partnership has delivered significant benefits.
Crew welfare: Starlink’s “home-like” connectivity at sea has become a cornerstone of the group’s crew welfare strategy. The improved onboard digital experience has strengthened talent attraction while improving crew quality and retention.
Operational efficiency and safety: High-definition video files for insurance claims, incident investigations and predictive or condition-based maintenance can now be uploaded and downloaded within minutes, accelerating decision-making and improving collaboration between vessels and shore-based teams. Real-time monitoring and telemetry are increasingly being used to improve vessel performance, optimise maintenance and support higher safety and technical standards across the fleet.
Fleet-wide transformation: Starlink has now been deployed on more than 140 vessels across the Angelicoussis Group fleet, reducing operational complexity while supporting robust cybersecurity controls.
