Melina Travlos is transforming the Neptune Group into a global player in the vehicle-carrying sector through a strategy focused on fleet renewal, network expansion and investments across the logistics value chain.

Under her leadership, the group is expanding and modernising its eco-friendly Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) fleet, extending its trade network beyond Europe into South America, investing in port infrastructure in France and strengthening its logistics footprint in Greece, further consolidating its market position.

The latest move appears to be an expansion of Neptune Lines’ shipbuilding programme with the addition of two more next-generation PCTCs.

The company launched its “Genesis Project” with an order for four 4,200-CEU (Car Equivalent Unit) vessels at Chinese shipyards. Following the delivery of the Greek-flagged Neptune Pireas, the first vessel in the Genesis series, which marked a significant milestone in the company’s fleet renewal strategy, industry sources indicate that Travlos has signed a new contract for the construction of two additional dual-fuel PCTCs, each with a capacity of 4,200 vehicles and scheduled for delivery in 2029.

The vessels will measure 177.8 metres in length and fully comply with the latest international environmental regulations. Like all vessels in the Genesis programme, they will be equipped with dual-fuel propulsion systems capable of operating on LNG. They will also feature hybrid battery systems, solar power installations and full shore-power connectivity, enabling zero-emission operations while berthed in port.

The Neptune Group currently manages a fleet of 25 vessels and is expected to take delivery of five 4,200-CEU PCTCs by 2029. The group’s network connects more than 20 countries and over 50 ports.

Expansion into New Markets

In late 2025, the group expanded its presence in Latin America by launching a short-sea shipping service linking the port of Zárate in Argentina with Paranaguá and Santos in Brazil.

Neptune aims to add further port calls and tailor-made logistics solutions, connecting key automotive manufacturing centres and logistics hubs across the region.

The expansion follows the recent launch of NLS Port-La Nouvelle, the group’s first dedicated automotive terminal, located in southern France.

Operated by Neptune Land Services (NLS), the facility is positioned as a strategic gateway in the Western Mediterranean, providing multimodal connectivity to major European markets through road, rail and maritime transport links.

The terminal spans 250,000 square metres, offers storage capacity for 12,000 vehicles and features two dedicated RoRo berths, enabling the handling of up to 200,000 vehicles annually.

The Greek-flagged Neptune Pireas has already arrived in Europe on its maiden voyage and is currently calling at the group’s port facilities in France.

Logistics Investments in Greece

Neptune is also strengthening its logistics platform in Greece. Among its recent investments, Neptune Land Services has acquired a majority stake in FERST Logistics.

As one of Greece’s leading providers of finished vehicle logistics services, FERST operates extensive facilities covering 500,000 square metres and maintains its own fleet of transport trucks, enhancing Neptune’s integrated offering across the automotive supply chain.
