Georgetown University, one of the world’s most respected academic institutions, with a long-standing tradition of preparing graduates to shape policy, business, law, healthcare, diplomacy, and global affairs, applied to the Ministry of Education to establish a university legal entity in Greece.

PPC Group will be the sole partner of the new entity, acting as an enabler for Georgetown University’s presence in Greece.

Georgetown University will offer, starting in the academic year 2026-2027, its Executive Master’s in Leadership graduate degree program, with future plans to offer its interdisciplinary M.S. in Environment and Sustainability Management degree program

Subject to receiving the necessary approvals by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Georgetown University plans to offer two of its successful postgraduate programs in Greece: the Executive Master’s in Leadership through its prestigious McDonough School of Business, followed by the M.S. in Environment and Sustainability Management, a partnership between McDonough and the Earth Commons – Georgetown’s Institute for Environment & Sustainability. A key audience for both programs will be Greek executives, including professionals at PPC Group.

The Executive Master’s in Leadership is a long-established, pioneering program designed to equip professionals with the skills needed to navigate a rapidly evolving global landscape. By combining rigorous academic theory with global business insights, the program aims to bridge the gap between advanced leadership frameworks and real-world challenges, preparing participants to lead with purpose through global shifts in energy and the economy.

The innovative Master’s in Environment and Sustainability Management, delivered by the McDonough School of Business in collaboration with the Earth Commons Institute, blends scientific knowledge with business principles to prepare graduates to advance global sustainability goals. The program leverages Georgetown’s world-renowned faculty across disciplines to provide students with the comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience needed to steward the environmental sustainability of organizations in order to increase value while simultaneously supporting our natural environment.

Both programs are AACSB – accredited and Georgetown will have full authority over admissions decisions and curriculum for the programs. Structured for working professionals, courses will take place in Athens, will be taught in English, and will culminate with a residency and graduation ceremony in Washington, D.C.

PPC Group recognizes education as a fundamental right and invests in the continuous development of its people through processes that ensure equal access, meritocracy, transparency, and alignment with organizational needs. At the same time, initiatives like this can help strengthen Greece’s economic growth and environmental sustainability by upgrading human capital, attracting international students, stewarding Greek environmental resources and heritage, and supporting the return of Greek academics and professionals, helping shape a stronger, more competitive future for the country.

Paul Almeida, Dean and William R. Berkley Chair of the McDonough School of Business, said: “Georgetown University was founded on the idea of educating the future leaders who will make an impact in the world. Centuries later, we continue this tradition on a global scale, delivering the knowledge and experiences needed to create value for countries, businesses, and society. We are excited to be in Greece, and are grateful to the PPC Group for this opportunity to bring our transformational Executive Master’s in Leadership to Greece.”

Peter Marra, Dean of the Earth Commons Institute and Laudato Si Professor of Biology and the Environment said: “Key decision-makers at the crossroads of three continents will now have environment and sustainability training at the core of graduate business education. Together with PPC, Georgetown in Greece offers a dynamic, real-world, and interdisciplinary curriculum where Greek leaders can engage directly with climate adaptation, supply chain management, and sustainable development in real time. Graduates of the Environment and Sustainability Management program will emerge ready to apply their expertise to the critical commitments Greece has made to environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and the just energy transition.”

George Stassis, PPC Group’s Chairman & CEO, noted: “A company’s enduring strength lies in its people. This initiative serves as a leadership hub, empowering innovative minds to lead with purpose through global shifts in energy and the economy. We are delighted with our collaboration with Georgetown University, one of the most renowned universities in the world, which ensures a high-quality blending of rigorous academic theory with global business insights. This initiative is a strategic investment in talent. It is a vital part of our commitment to empower next-gen leaders across the globe to drive meaningful organizational and societal impact.”

Through this strategic collaboration, PPC Group and Georgetown University aim to cultivate a new generation of leaders in Greece and the region, capable of managing large-scale industry shifts while maintaining a focus on innovation and social responsibility.
