Safe Bulkers, Inc., owned by shipowner Poly V. Hadjioannou, announced the sale of MV Michalis H, a 2012 Chinese-built Capesize bulk carrier, for 35.2 million dollars, with delivery scheduled in the first quarter of 2026. The divestment is part of the fleet renewal strategy, aimed at improving the age composition and operational efficiency.
As stated by the company’s President, Loukas Barbaris, the transaction took place at a favorable time and at a competitive valuation. At the same time, the company maintains an order book of eight newbuildings with deliveries until 2029.
Safe Bulkers is active internationally in the transportation of dry bulk cargo, such as coal, grain and iron ore, while its shares are listed on the American stock exchange (New York Stock Exchange).
