The Corfu Port Authority (CPA) presented the cruise ship arrivals program for 2026, confirming the dynamic course of the port and the strategic goal of establishing Corfu as a twelve-month cruise destination with high added value.
A total of 562 cruise ship arrivals have been planned for 2026, a number that reflects an increase of 20.3% compared to the previous year and further strengthens Corfu’s position in the international cruise network.
Based on the current planning, 998,244 passengers are expected to visit the island, with available data indicating a tendency to exceed this limit, as demand for Corfu increases both in the high season and in the off-peak season.
This development reflects the constant confidence of international cruise companies in the port of Corfu, as well as its systematic effort to continuously upgrade services, operational readiness and port infrastructure, with the aim of sustainable development and maximizing the benefits for the local economy.
Aiming for a 12-month cruise
The main direction of the Organization’s strategy remains the lengthening of the tourist season and the smooth distribution of activity throughout the year. The 2026 program foresees cruise ship approaches during the winter season, already from the first quarter, confirming the gradual shift of Corfu into a four-season destination.
Specifically, with the first cruise ship having already sailed to the island on January 2, disembarking 2,679 passengers, 36 approaches have been planned for the period January – March 2026 compared to 31 in the corresponding period last year, recording increased activity compared to previous winter periods and creating positive prospects for the local economy and employment, beyond the traditional peak of summer.
Consistently high demand and strengthening of international position
During the months of increased tourist traffic, from May to September, the port of Corfu is expected to welcome more than 70 cruise ship arrivals per month, confirming its role as the country’s main gateway from Central Europe and as a strategic hub for the Adriatic and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The period October – December 2026 is also of particular importance, where the planning shows a steady upward trend compared to last year, as 119 planned cruise ship arrivals are foreseen. This is an element that further strengthens the goal of extending the season, contributing to the dispersion of visitors and efforts for the sustainable development of the destination.
The CEO of the Corfu Port Authority, Dimitris Apergis, stated: “The 2026 plan reflects the steady upgrade of the port of Corfu and our clear strategy to boost its international position. Our goal is to continuously improve services, upgrade the visitor experience and create substantial added value for the local community and the island’s economy.”
With an eye on the future, the Port of Corfu enters 2026 with strong foundations, a clear strategic direction and increased prospects for further integrating the island into the international network of tourist and shipping flows, marking the next, substantial step of upgrade and extroversion for the island, emphasized the Port Authority.
