Product prices in supermarket chains remained almost unchanged in December 2024-November 2025, according to a survey by the Institute of Retail Consumer Goods Research (IELKA).
The stable trend observed is influenced by specific categories, with groceries and non-food items recording decreases in 2025, while fresh meat, chocolates and breakfast items recording increases.
According to the survey, inflation in supermarket chains was around +1.06% over the 12 months, while monthly inflation ranged from 0.09% to 2.47%, which indicates a relatively low fluctuation.
Lower than the EU average food inflation
These figures are also in line with Eurostat data. Specifically, Greece had the ninth lowest inflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6%) in the European Union in October 2025 compared to the European average of 3%.
The harmonized index of food and non-alcoholic beverages remained lower than the European average, while in several months the price differed by almost 3 percentage points.
