Thessaloniki seafront transferred to municipality for next 49 years

Thessaloniki mayor Yiannis Boutaris on Thursday said the northern Greece metropolis would establish a municipal port authority fund, hours after the state privatization fund (TAIPED) granted the city the right to manage and exploit the seafront promenade for the next 49 years.

The concession grants the municipality, Greece’s second largest city, sections of state-owned properties on the seafront, a characteristic landmark of Thessaloniki.
