PPA: The European CIPORT project concluded

The CIPORT European project was implemented by PPA SA with the co-financing of the European Union

Τhe final event for the European project “CIPORT-Cold Ironing in the Port of Piraeus – Taking the final step” took place at the Central Building of the European Commission (Berlaymont).

The CIPORT project, with an estimated eligible budget of 1,400,000 euros, concerns the preparation of a series of studies for the electrification of ships (cold ironing) in four points of the cruise service section of the port of Piraeus, as well as required studies for the development of the relevant infrastructure, including environmental, transport and socio-economic studies. The aim of the action is to reduce the environmental footprint and optimize the operation of the port, creating added value for the port, users and the local economy of the city of Piraeus.

The CIPORT European project was implemented by PPA SA with the co-financing of the European Union.

The event was attended by the vice-president of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, who, among other things, underlined the importance of Transport for Europe, which constitutes a high priority of the European Commission.

Referring to CIPORT, Schinas said that it is an important project which is of great national importance, as Piraeus, in addition to being one of the largest ports in Europe, is also a transportation hub for cruises and ferry connections with the Greek islands.
