ASE gains 9.46% in 11-day rally

Piraeus Bank (6.10%), Eurobank (4.82%), Viohalco (3.58%), Alpha Bank (3.39%) and Aegean Airlines (3.24%) scored big gains among blue chip stocks

Greek stocks ended significantly highegr on the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday extending their rally for the 11th consecutive session during which the market is up 9.46%.

Traders said market focus was on bank shares. The general index of the market jumped 1.59% to close at 1,120.29 points, with the Large Cap index rising 1.70% and the Mid Cap index ending 0.77% up. Turnover was a heavy 134.74 million euros in volume of 54,941,144 shares.

Piraeus Bank (6.10%), Eurobank (4.82%), Viohalco (3.58%), Alpha Bank (3.39%) and Aegean Airlines (3.24%) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Motor Oil (-1.96%), Ellaktor (-1.64%) and Mytilineos (-1.21%) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Banks (4.04%) and Travel (1.79%) moved up, while Health (-2.38%) and Oil (-1.08%) moved down.

Alpha Bank and MIG were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 62 to 35 with another 29 issues unchanged. Piraeus Bank (6.10%) and Eurobank (4.82%) were top gainers, while Vioter (-4.96%) and Intertek (-4.17%) were top losers.
