Greek stocks extend rally for 6th day

The index edged up 0.04% to close at 1,069.73 points, after falling as much as 0.53% during the day.

Greek stocks ended slightly higher on the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday, extending its rally for the sixth consecutive session during which the general index of the market gains 4.25%.

The index edged up 0.04% to close at 1,069.73 points, after falling as much as 0.53% during the day. The Large Cap index eased 0.05% and the Mid Cap index rose 0.26%. Turnover was a low 58.59 million euros in volume of 28,010,423 shares.

GEK Terna (1.48%), Coca Cola HBC (1.45%), OPAP (1.0%) and Athens Water (0.74%) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Hellenic Petroleum (-1.82%), Alpha Bank (-1.67%) and Lamda Development (-1.23%) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Food (1.42%) and Insurance (1.11%) moved up, while Real Estate (-0.93%) and Personal Products (-0.88%) moved down. MIG and Piraeus Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 47 to 42 with another 24 issues unchanged. Cretan Plastics (6.88%) and Reds (4.41%) were top gainers, while Progressive (-16.98%) and Attica Publications (-9.14%) were top losers.
