Imported inflationary pressures seemed to be abating in Greece, as the import price index in the industrial sector grew slightly by 0.4% in January this year compared with the same month in 2022.
Hellenic Statistical Authority in a report released on Tuesday said that the industrial import price index was up 31.8% in the same months in 2022/2021.
The statistics service attributed this development in the so-called imported inflation to a 6.3% increase in the import price index from Eurozone countries and a 2.3% decline in the import price index from countries outside Eurozone.
The import price index fell 0.8% in January 2023 compared with December 2022, after a 9.7% increase recorded in the same period last year.
