Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras appeared certain on Tuesday that his junior coalition partner, Defense Minister Panos Kammenos, will remain firmly in place, both in the Cabinet and with his and his party’s remaining MPs’ votes in Parliament.
Kammenos founded and heads up the small right-wing Independent Greeks’ (AN.EL) party, whose six remaining deputies continue to prop up the coalition government.
Asked by reporters in Parliament over the prospect of a “Plan B” in case Kammenos and his deputies resign from Cabinet posts over their opposition to the provisional Prespa agreement with fYRoM, the leftist premier answered: “No lads, where can he go? Don’t worry”.
Tsipras also downplayed the possibility of Tuesday’s Parliament debate over the draft 2019 budget turning into an acrimonious affair.
