Latest VLCC transaction for 2001-built tanker reaches 21 mln USD

A latest transaction involving a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) witnessed the oldest such vessel in the Pantheon Tankers fleet, the Astro Chorus, selling for slightly more than 21 million USD.

The 305.7K dwt vessel was built in 2001.

According to shipping brokers, the previous sale of a similar tanker, the 298K dwt “Seaways Sakura” (2001), reached 18 million USD the previous month.

Pantheon Tankers, controlled by the Kanellakis family, managed another nine VLCCs, with another two being built at the DSME shipyards and set for delivery in 2020.
