ND leads by 3.9 percentage points in latest opinion poll

A latest opinion poll in Greece has main opposition New Democracy (ND) party ahead of ruling SYRIZA by 3.9 percentage points.

The poll, conducted by the Kapa Research firm and commissioned by the weekly “To Vima”, shows 22 percent of respondents backing center-right ND; followed by 18.1 percent for leftist SYRIZA.

Another three Parliament-represented parties are also show polling above the 3-percent threshold necessary for entering Parliament: ultra-nationalist Golden Dawn, the Communist Party and socialist PASOK, with 6.2, 5.4 and 4.7 percent, respectively.

The “undecided” vote came in “first”, with 29.3 percent.

When extrapolating the results in a general election setting, ND is given 31.1 percent to SYRIZA’s 25.6 percent.

A previous poll by the same firm on June 9 had ND polling 20.8 percent to SYRIZA’s 17.3 percent.

The latest opinion poll was conducted between Sept. 6 and Sept. 8 on a sample of 1,002 respondents and based on geographical proportionate scale.
