Greece-based Mytilineos this week announced that it has signed a contract with Janvo Podjet Energetika Ljubljan, in Slovenia, worth 118 million euros for the study, procurement and construction of a new thermal power unit in Ljubljana.

The contract includes two Siemens gas turbines, heat recovery boilers and auxiliary equipment for the combined cycle plant, which will rely on natural gas and light diesel as fuels. The total power capacity is 110MW.

The goal is to reduce coal-fired power production in Slovenia by 70 percent.

A 30-month completion date is given from the commencement of construction, expected to begin in the first half of 2019.
