Yet another early morning attack against a diplomatic mission in the greater Athens area occurred in the first hours of Friday, after at least two suspects tossed a hand grenade in the courtyard of the Russian consulate in the Greek capital.
The building is located in the Halandri district, close to other embassies, diplomatic missions and diplomats’ residences.
Only material damages were reported to a sentry’s post.
The office is guarded by unarmed private security guards.
The last grenade attack against a diplomatic mission came in November 2016 when unknown suspects targeted the French embassy in downtown Athens, in direct view of the Greek parliament.
The latest attack generated a negative reaction by international and Russia media.
