Juncker, Tsipras speak by phone as creditors wrap up Athens negotiations

By N. Bellos

The course of the Greek program in the wake of a conclusion of talks between the Greek side and institutional creditors’ representatives was the subject of Friday’s telephone contact between EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

The contact came before Tsipras’ meeting in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Meanwhile, according to a Commission spokesman, negotiations between Athens and creditors will continue via teleconferencing, aimed to concluding the now delayed second review of the Greek program.

Spokesman Margaritis Schinas declined to give further details over the Juncker-Tsipras talks.
