Rioting by small group of youths mostly breaks up protest rally outside Greek parliament

A large protest rally outside the Greek Parliament on Sunday afternoon was mostly broken up after a group of unknown persons threw firebombs, flares and rocks towards nearby riot police, which set off a tit-for-tat between authorities and the mostly masked rioters.

Protest rallies and a demonstration march that ended up outside Parliament were peaceful before the group of youths unleashed the missiles against body-armor clad police standing outside a well-known Athens hotel.

The result broke up the protest against two draft bills on tax hikes and pension reforms the leftist Greek government has up for vote in Parliament on Sunday evening.
