The participants of the 2nd workshop of the European Interreg Euro-MED program “Port-City Regions To Wave Med Cruise Destinations As Smart, Sustainable And Striking Eco-Tourism Systems” (PortCREW) were welcomed at the Port of Thessaloniki by the Thessaloniki Port Authority, whose CEO is Yiannis Tsaras.
The project aims to develop “smart”, sustainable and attractive cruise management systems in five Mediterranean ports: Ravenna, Koper, Valencia, Toulon and Thessaloniki.
On the Greek side, the Hellenic Institute of Transport of the National Center for Research and Technological Development participates as a partner, along with European organizations from Italy, Spain, France and Slovenia.
During the visit, a study was carried out at the cruise terminal facilities and an exchange of experiences between the partners.
Particular emphasis was placed on the development of a digital platform that will provide personalized information to cruise passengers, strengthening the role of Thessaloniki in the sustainable development of maritime tourism.
