A mutual cooperation agreement between the marine fuel industry and dry bulk shipping was signed by the International Bunkering Industry Association (IBIA) and the International Dry Cargo Shipowners Association (INTERCARGO).
The agreement focuses on safety, fuel quality and the transition to green technologies.
The two organizations will have access to technical teams, specialized knowledge and best practices, while they will strengthen their cooperation in international fora, such as the IMO. Alexandros Prokopakis, Executive Director of IBIA, said that cooperation is crucial as shipping enters a new era of fuels and technologies.
On his part, Dimitris Monioudis, Chairman of the INTERCARGO Technical Committee, stressed that the partnership will enhance access to specialized know-how on the fuels of today and the future, supporting safe and realistic transition paths for its members.
