M/Maritime goes ahead with the fleet renewal plan

The company focuses on Japanese-built and new-age or newly built ships

M/Maritime proceeded with the acquisition of a Japanese-made modern bulk carrier of the ultramax type. It is a 63,405 dwt vessel built in 2017. The vessel was built by Imabari at Tadotsu Shipyard in Japan. With this addition, the company’s privately owned fleet reached 17 bulk carriers with an average age of six years.

Although the company has not made an announcement about the identity of the ship, the move reportedly concerns a ship that it already has in its fleet chartered for a long period. This is MC Shipping’s Rising Sky (built 2017). M/Maritime expects to take over full management of the vessel by the end of March.

It is pointed out that the company focuses on Japanese-built and new-age or newly built ships, while it follows a policy of continuous renewal of its fleet. Last April it sold the 63,300 dwt All Star Atlas, which was only nine years old (when the sale took place).

M/Maritime’s fleet also includes a bulk carrier, from the Imabari shipyards, which the company currently has on charter. It is the 37,700 dwt Amber Star, built in 2017.
