A Council of State (CoS) ruling applying a five-year statute of limitation on a case involving the imposition of higher Value Added Taxes (VAT), to the tune of 830,000 euros, has been delivered to the independent revenue assets authority’s legal services.

If applied in a universal manner, a five-year statute of limitation on VAT-related cases will have a major impact on the state’s revenue collection efforts.

According to sources, the independent revenue assets authority will revise its planning after receiving guidance by its legal department.
