Α 4.5 on the Richter scale earthquake was recorded at roughly 10 a.m. (08.00 GMT) south of the large island of Crete.
According to a geodynamic research institute in Athens, the quake was centered in a sea region 75 kilometers south, southeast of the Tymbaki site on the island.
