Previous govt’s top judicial appointments null, as president returns decrees unsigned

The legal department of the Greek president’s office has reportedly returned two presidential decrees appointing a new Supreme Court president and chief prosecutor back to the new government, unsigned.

The development, by all accounts, means the appointments – announced by the previous government last month in its waning days of power – are null and carry no legal weight for the new Mitsotakis government.

The new Cabinet can now re-submit the same names or other appointees.
