A EuroWorking Group teleconference, probably on Monday, is expected to be the venue where the first review of the third Greek bailout will be officially concluded, more than a week after the Eurogroup ministers gave their initial approval.
According to Euro zone sources in the Belgian capital, a teleconference will not take place on Thursday. The additional time gives the leftist Greek government in Athens the opportunity to ratify the last remaining prior actions that will resolve creditors’ most recent demands – ones that arose after the Eurogroup meeting over a handful of issues requiring more clarification and more solid guarantees.
The draft amendments were tabled on Wednesday evening in Parliament, and debate is expected on Thursday.
According to reports, once EWG experts ascertain a conclusion of the first review they will send final texts to Euro zone members’ Parliaments for ratification. The texts will also be forwarded to the ESM, whose board of directors will then sign-off on the 7.5-billion-euro loan tranche that Greece was supposed to have received earlier in the year.
Government sources in Athens on Wednesday claimed that the loan disbursement will come in two to three weeks.
