Corinth Pipeworks has been awarded a series of contracts by Snam in Italy for the construction and supply of over 180 kilometers of pipeline, as part of the Adriatica project, a critical energy infrastructure that is expected to significantly strengthen the country’s natural gas network.
The Adriatica pipeline is one of the most strategic natural gas transmission projects in Italy and the largest to be launched in the last decade.
What the contracts entail
According to the announcement, the contracts include 48-inch diameter HSAW (Helical Submerged Arc Welding) pipes, as well as 56-inch diameter LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding) pipes, L450ME quality steel, which have been certified for the safe transport of up to 100% hydrogen.
The production of the steel pipes, the internal coating with epoxy paint to improve flow and the external anti-corrosion protection with triple polyethylene coating, are carried out at the company’s facilities in Thisvi, Boeotia.
The certification program for the Adriatica pipeline is based on Corinth Pipeworks’ proven expertise in the production of pipes suitable for the transport of hydrogen, as well as on the company’s state-of-the-art testing facilities, which allow for specialized tests to be carried out under conditions of real high gas pressure.
“We are honored to be awarded these contracts, which confirm our long-term partnership with Snam in the development of Europe’s future energy network,” said Elias Bekiros, General Manager of Corinth Pipeworks.
“Our company remains committed to establishing and implementing new standards of excellence in the energy sector and looks forward to contributing to the further advancement of the industry.”
