Cosmote: The 5G Stand-Alone technology network is commercially available

The population coverage of the Cosmote 5G+ network is already at 50%

Cosmote is proceeding with the commercial release of the 5G+ network. The evolution of the Cosmote mobile network, based on 5G Stand-Alone (SA) technology, will offer even more possibilities, unleashing the limitless potential of 5G and bringing consumers, as well as businesses, closer to the Gigabit Society.

“Cosmote was the first to bring 5G to Greece. Now it takes the next step, unleashing the true potential of fifth generation networks, through Cosmote 5G+, the first commercially available 5G Stand-Alone network in Greece. The upgraded connectivity experience and innovative applications are expected to bring new perspectives to the digital economy. We are continuing our investments in new generation networks at an unabated rate, creating state-of-the-art technological infrastructures, as a necessary condition for the digital transformation of the country, society and businesses,” the president and CEO of OTE Group, Michael Tsamaz, said.

Cosmote 5G+ will offer an overall better connectivity experience, with progressively even higher download and upload speed, faster response (latency) and better battery management on mobile devices connected to the network.

In addition, it will give a significant boost to industry and businesses, and offer new possibilities to households through innovative applications, such as dynamic network slicing.

At the same time, thanks to its low latency, it paves the way for revolutionary applications in medicine, logistics, transport, a better mobile gaming experience, better support for Internet of Things applications, etc.

The population coverage of the Cosmote 5G+ network is already at 50% and will be extended to even more areas throughout Greece, aiming to reach 60% by the end of 2024.
