2 Greek civil protection units, equipment to be dispatched to Albania

Two Greek emergency crews will be dispatched to neighboring Albania to aid in relief and search efforts, hours after a 6.4 on the Richter scale earthquake near the central port city of Durres caused major destruction and at least seven fatalities.

The Greek government responded to a request by Tirana via the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

Greece’s civil protection agency will transport the units to Albania, along with their equipment.
