ND criticises, but will vote in favor of 1.4 bln€ ‘social dividend’ after all

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) party on Tuesday continued its scathing attack against an announcement by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, a day earlier, to dole out some 1.4 billion euros in welfare benefits and a massive subsidy to the dominant power company, nevertheless saying it would vote in favor of the measure.

A ND statement repeated last evening’s charge that the “social dividend” was a small portion of the billions of euros taken by the government, in the form of high taxes, in 2017.

“…they’re taking from one pocket and returning little in the other,” was the main opposition’s statement.
