The bodies of three minors have been recovered on the northeast shores of the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, Greek authorities announced on Saturday, a shocking development believed to be linked to a resurgent flow of third country nationals being ferried over by migrant smugglers from Turkey.
Authorities on the island were quoted, by a local news source, lesvosnews.gr, as saying no reports of missing children are on file.
The first of two bodies, belonging to a girl roughly 12 to 13 years old, was discovered on Thursday on a beach at the Mantamado site. On Friday the body of a boy, roughly the same age, was discovered nearby. No information was given on when the third body was discovered.
