A weak earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale was recorded at 10.59 (08.59 GMT), southwest of the Ionian island of Zakynthos, according to the Athens-based Geodynamics Institute. The tremor was pinpointed at 71 kilometers south-southwest of the island, a region plagued by heightened seismic activity.
