Back and forth accusations over prosecutors’ search of BoG gov’s home

A search by prosecutors of Bank of Greece (BoG) Gov. Yannis Stournaras’ home on Thursday, part of a probe into advertising contracts that also involves a company linked with his spouse, sparked the latest row between the leftist government and the center-right main opposition.

An official statement from the prime minister’s office charges that main opposition New Democracy party is attempting an “unacceptable intervention in the judiciary and in the BoG’s work”, a response to an earlier ND’s statement.

On its part, the main opposition referred to “pressure by outside forces against the Bank of Greece governor”.
