A moderate earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale was recorded at 10.49 a.m. (08.59 GMT) in a sea region southeast of the large island of Crete.
The quake was pinpointed at 62 kilometers from the Zakros site on Crete, or 439 kilometers south/southeast of Athens.
