High court rules that obligatory deposit of local govts’ reserve in central bank constitutional

The Council of State (CoS), Greece’s highest administrative court, has ruled that the obligatory deposit of reserves by elected local and regional government entity into a special Bank of Greece (BoG) account is constitutional.

The set of related rulings were the product of a majority decision by the CoS’s justices, which ruled against a bevy of municipalities who filed suit against the central government.
