Multinational Leroy Merlin has implemented a five-million-euro investment in inaugurating a new outlet in central Athens, and specifically in the Ambelokipi district, on top of what it said was 100 million euros in total investment in its 13 years in the Greek market.
According to the company, it aims to open new stores in the greater Athens area and northern Thessaloniki, with the prospect of expanding in regional cities – via the franchise method – and especially on the large islands of Crete and Rhodes. The latter model has already been followed in Greece by Praktiker’s subsidiary, Praktiker Hellas.
The Leroy Merlin company in Greece is a partnership between local businessman Pavlos Fourlis and the French group Adeo.
The commercial goal for the company is to increase its market share in the Home and Do-it-Yourself (DIY) sector, estimated at one billion euros, as it reaches 10 percent at present.
